A Finnish Semiconductor Startup Enters Japan, HighQ Power
HighQ Power, a semiconductor startup based in Helsinki, Finland, has established its first Japanese subsidiary in Kitakyushu City as part of its entry into the Japanese market. The company selected Kyushu amid the region’s growing semiconductor industry, fueled by developments such as TSMC’s expansion into Kumamoto. The decision was also influenced by the CEO’s roots in Kitakyushu and the presence of advanced R&D facilities in the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park.
The subsidiary was established on March 2, 2026, in a co-working space at COMPASS Kokura in Kokurakita Ward, where it will primarily handle sales activities in Japan. Founded in August 2025, the company had eight employees as of January 2026 and focuses on designing high-efficiency power supply systems using power semiconductors for data centers.
