Global Unichip Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of TSMC Group’s design specialist GUC, relocates to a new office in Yokohama as part of its business expansion

‍ ‍

Global Unichip Japan (GUC Japan), a subsidiary of TSMC Group’s design company GUC, expanded its operations in October 2025 by relocating to a new office in Yokohama, Kanagawa. The company was originally established in June 2005 in Yokohama.

‍ ‍

As part of its Japan expansion strategy, GUC Japan positions itself as a core design hub within the group, focusing on advanced semiconductor design using leading-edge process technologies. To support this expansion, it has received assistance from JETRO since April 2024, including coordination with local governments, information on subsidies, and talent outreach through student engagement.

‍ ‍

Although regional expansion was considered, Yokohama was chosen for its strong talent pool suited for advanced technologies. The company aims to strengthen its R&D capabilities in Japan, enhance the competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry, and cultivate next-generation technology professionals.
