FOSSA Systems, a Spanish Aerospace Company, Opens an Office in Japan to Boost Its Expansion in Asia and Signs Strategic Agreement with Kanematsu Corporation
FOSSA Systems, a Spain-based aerospace and satellite communications company headquartered in Madrid, has announced the opening of its first office in Japan as part of its broader Asia-Pacific expansion strategy. The new Tokyo office, located in Shinagawa, will serve as a regional hub to support operations, partnerships, and market development across Asia.
The company began preparing for its Japan entry in 2025, aligning with increasing demand in the region for secure, sovereign satellite communications, particularly in the defense and government sectors. FOSSA’s market entry strategy focuses on local partnerships, regulatory alignment, and delivering integrated satellite-to-ground communication solutions tailored to national security and infrastructure needs.
As a key step in this strategy, FOSSA has signed a strategic agreement with Kanematsu Corporation, a major Japanese trading company with over 130 years of history and strong capabilities in aerospace, defense, and advanced technologies. Through this alliance, Kanematsu will support the commercialization and distribution of FOSSA’s sovereign satellite technologies in Japan.
FOSSA specializes in vertically integrated satellite and terrestrial communication systems, including small satellite constellations, secure SatCom networks, and signals intelligence (SIGINT) solutions. Its technology enables customers—particularly governments and defense organizations—to maintain full control over their communications infrastructure in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
The Tokyo office marks FOSSA’s third global location, following its headquarters in Madrid and its Lisbon office established in 2024. The company aims to build a strong local presence by collaborating with Japanese institutions, industrial partners, and public sector entities.
This expansion also aligns with FOSSA’s growing international recognition, including its recent selection as a participant in NATO’s DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) program, highlighting its capabilities in advanced defense and intelligence technologies.
