Canadian Battery Company Electrovaya Expands into Japan with New Subsidiary
Canadian lithium-ion battery technology company Electrovaya Inc. (NASDAQ: ELVA / TSX: ELVA) announced in October 2025 that it will establish a Japanese subsidiary, Electrovaya Japan, to strengthen its presence in the Japanese market and support local customers and partners.
The new subsidiary will serve as Electrovaya’s local base in Japan and will focus on business development, customer support, and technical integration.
According to the company, Electrovaya has already built strong partnerships with Japanese companies over the past few years and has successfully sold advanced lithium-ion battery products to customers in Japan for both domestic and global markets. Establishing a Japanese subsidiary is considered an important step in the company’s global expansion strategy and will help deepen cooperation with Japanese OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and technology partners.
Electrovaya Japan will mainly promote the company’s core Infinity Battery Technology, which is known for its long cycle life, high safety, and energy efficiency. The technology is used in several industries, including material handling equipment, robotics, heavy industrial machinery, and energy storage systems.
CEO Dr. Raj DasGupta stated that Japan has been an important and growing market for Electrovaya. By establishing a local subsidiary, the company aims to strengthen relationships with Japanese customers and expand into high-growth sectors such as robotics, industrial equipment, and energy storage.
Electrovaya is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, and specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries and battery systems. The company operates two facilities in Canada and is also planning to build a large battery manufacturing plant in New York State, USA. In addition, it is developing next-generation solid-state battery technology.
Although the company has announced the establishment of Electrovaya Japan, the exact date for the subsidiary’s official launch has not yet been disclosed.
