Rosewood Miyakojima: World-Renowned Luxury Brand Makes Its Japan Debut
Ultra-Luxury Resort Opens in Miyakojima, Okinawa in Collaboration with Mitsubishi Estate

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®, a global ultra-luxury lifestyle hotel brand based in Dallas, USA, which operates over 30 hotels, resorts, and residences across 21 countries, has officially entered the Japanese market for the first time. The brand's first location in Japan is in Miyakojima, Okinawa. On Saturday, March 1, 2025, "Rosewood Miyakojima" opened its doors as the brand’s inaugural property in Japan.

To mark its debut in Japan, Rosewood partnered with major developer Mitsubishi Estate to create a resort that emphasizes harmony with nature rather than an urban setting. The facility embodies the brand’s core philosophy, A Sense of Place®, offering guests an extraordinary, paradise-like retreat.

Operations in Japan will be managed by Rosewood Japan Management LLC, a local subsidiary established in 2024.

The resort features 55 ocean-view villas, each equipped with a private pool and garden. The architecture and interior design were led by renowned Dutch designer Piet Boon and Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, incorporating abundant elements of Ryukyuan culture and natural materials.

Guests can enjoy four restaurants and bars, the luxurious Asaya spa, an infinity pool, yoga studio, and a kids’ space. The resort also offers activities that highlight Miyakojima’s natural beauty and rich food culture, delivering a truly world-class experience.

As the first step in Rosewood’s expansion into the Japanese market, Rosewood Miyakojima is already attracting attention from both domestic and international travelers.
