Anthropic to Open Tokyo Office and Launch Japanese Version of Claude This Fall

U.S.-based AI company Anthropic announced on June 25 that it will open its first Asia-Pacific office in Tokyo in fall 2025 and launch a fully localized Japanese version of its generative AI service, Claude.

Claude is known for its advanced coding and reasoning capabilities and is already being used by major Japanese companies such as Rakuten, Panasonic, and Nomura Research Institute (NRI). Rakuten uses Claude for autonomous coding projects, NRI has improved the efficiency of complex Japanese document analysis, and Panasonic has integrated it into business processes and its digital family wellness platform Umi.

Kate Jensen, Chief Revenue Officer, said, “We aim to meet Japanese companies’ high standards for quality and cultural understanding while continuing to develop responsible AI.” Anthropic will strengthen its support system with a dedicated local team and offer Claude on smartphones, web, and desktop with full Japanese language support.

With this expansion, Anthropic plans to further promote AI adoption in Japan and help businesses improve productivity and create new value.
