French Skincare Brand “Galénic” Launches in JapanCombining Scientific Formulas and Digital Strategy to Enter a Competitive Market
French premium skincare brand Galénic officially announced its entry into the Japanese market on June 12, 2025. Founded in 1978 by pharmacist and skin/plant scientist Pierre Fabre, the brand is known for its concept of “the fusion of science and beauty,” offering high-performance products with pharmaceutical-level formulations.
The brand will first launch primarily online, with plans to open flagship stores and department store counters between 2026 and 2027. To mark its debut, Galénic will hold pop-up events at @COSME TOKYO (July 16–22) and @COSME OSAKA (July 30–August 5).
In 2020, Galénic became part of Yatsen Global, the Chinese cosmetics giant known for Perfect Diary. Yatsen brings strong expertise in social media marketing and e-commerce operations, which Galénic will leverage to stand out in Japan’s highly competitive skincare market.
By combining scientifically backed product quality with digital marketing strategies, the brand aims to appeal to Japanese consumers, who are known for their high standards regarding ingredients and effectiveness.
