Aboitiz Economic Estates, a Philippine Industrial Estate Developer, Opens Tokyo Office and Strengthens Commitment to Japanese Firms in the Philippines

‍ ‍

Aboitiz Economic Estates (AEE), the industrial and real estate arm of the Philippines’ Aboitiz Group, operates four industrial economic zones including LIMA Estate and TARI Estate. Its flagship LIMA Estate in Batangas is one of the largest privately owned industrial parks in the Philippines, covering about 1,100 hectares. Around 40% of its locators are Japanese companies such as Epson, Yamaha Motor, and JT Group.

‍ ‍

In February 2026, AEE opened its first overseas office in Chiyoda, Tokyo, marking its full-scale entry into the Japanese market. The office aims to support communication between Japanese headquarters and Philippine operations while assisting new Japanese companies expanding into ASEAN. Former Marubeni executive Kazuaki Shirozono was appointed senior advisor to strengthen support for Japanese firms’ long-term investment and risk management needs.

‍ ‍

AEE views the restructuring of Japanese supply chains in Southeast Asia as a major growth opportunity. Beyond providing manufacturing sites, the company promotes an integrated industrial township model combining workforce development, industry-academia collaboration, and lifestyle infrastructure. At LIMA Estate, AEE is partnering with Batangas State University to establish the Philippines’ first industry-based campus, offering training and reskilling programs for tenant companies. Going forward, AEE plans to strengthen proposals for Japanese firms seeking long-term investment opportunities that integrate manufacturing, ASEAN exports, and talent development.
