Trade shows are one of the fastest ways for an overseas company to test the Japanese market. In a few days, you can meet importers, distributors and corporate buyers who would otherwise take months to reach, and see first-hand how your product compares with what is already on the market.
This calendar lists 61 major B2B exhibitions in Japan from November 2026 to November 2027, selected for overseas companies considering entering Japan, whether you are based in Europe, North America, Southeast Asia or elsewhere. How to choose the right trade show in Japan
- Match the buyer, not just the industry. Many Japanese exhibitions are organised as "weeks" that combine several specialised shows. Check the exhibitor and visitor profile to make sure the buyers you need (importers, distributors, manufacturers or end users) actually attend.
- Think regionally. Tokyo shows attract national buyers, while editions in Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Hokkaido are often smaller but more focused on regional industries, such as manufacturing in the Nagoya area.
- Visit before you exhibit. If you are new to Japan, walking a show as a visitor first is a low-cost way to understand pricing, competitors and how Japanese buyers make decisions.
- Prepare in Japanese and plan the follow-up. Japanese-language materials, a clear importer or distributor model, and prompt follow-up after the show make the difference between collecting business cards and closing deals.
From trade show to market entry: a real example
Around CEATEC, we supported 10 overseas startups, mostly from Europe and North America. Over two months, we arranged around 100 meetings with Japanese corporate partners, joined the meetings, helped each company set the direction for its first conversations, and mentored the founders along the way. One of them, a French startup, came back to us two years later to commission a feasibility study for entering the Japanese market. A trade show is often the first step, and the questions that follow, such as which partners to work with, how to set up and how to sell, are where an experienced advisor can make the difference.

Frequently asked questions
What are the main trade shows in Japan for foreign companies?
It depends on your industry. Widely used shows include FOODEX JAPAN and the Supermarket Trade Show for food, the Tokyo International Gift Show and LIFESTYLE Week for consumer goods, Japan IT Week for IT and digital services, and SEMICON Japan and NEPCON JAPAN for semiconductors and electronics. The industry guide on this page groups every show in the calendar by sector.
How far in advance should I apply to exhibit?
Popular shows open exhibitor applications many months in advance, often six to twelve months before the event. For example, exhibitor applications for FOOMA JAPAN 2027 (June 2027) closed in October 2026. If you are considering a show in 2027, it is worth contacting the organiser now.
Can a foreign company exhibit without a Japanese entity?
Many major Japanese exhibitions accept overseas exhibitors, and some have international or country pavilions. However, to actually sell after the show you will usually need a route to market, such as an importer, a distributor or your own entity in Japan, so it helps to plan this before you exhibit.
