Royal Vopak, the world’s leading independent storage and infrastructure operator, has announced the opening of its new office in Tokyo. This expansion aligns with Vopak’s strategy to accelerate its new energy and LNG business, adding Japan to its global network of terminals across 23+ countries. The new office will support Japanese companies in their transition to low-carbon energy solutions.

With over 400 years of expertise, Vopak is a global leader in storing and handling critical products such as LNG, ammonia, liquid chemicals, and biofuels. In Japan, a key focus is on the safe storage of hydrogen and ammonia, which are crucial for reducing carbon emissions in power generation. The company brings 20+ years of ammonia storage experience, operating six terminals worldwide. Additionally, Vopak’s LNG expertise spans five terminals in strategic locations.

To support Japan’s 2050 carbon neutrality goal, Vopak will collaborate with industry leaders to develop infrastructure for hydrogen, ammonia, CO₂, and LNG.
