Australia-based One-stop Food Safety Management Solution “Squizify” to Fully Enter the Japanese Market in Spring 2025
Squizify Co., Ltd. (Heartbeat Enterprises Pty Ltd.), headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, has announced that it will officially enter the Japanese market in spring 2025 with its all-in-one food safety management solution, Squizify. Ahead of its full launch, the company exhibited for the first time at the “2nd Food Sanitation Innovation Expo” held at Makuhari Messe from December 3–5, 2025, marking the start of its expansion in Japan.
Eliminating On-site Paperwork and Workload
Launched globally in 2018, Squizify is already used in more than 3,000 stores and facilities worldwide. The company plans to establish its Japan subsidiary in Ebisu, Tokyo, in 2025 and aims to strengthen partnerships with hotels, convenience stores, restaurant chains, and other sectors.
Squizify enables food businesses to manage all required sanitation tasks digitally in one platform. Although HACCP-based recordkeeping became mandatory in Japan in 2021, about 70% of sites still rely on paper. Squizify’s goal is to replace paper- and habit-based operations with a system that is easy to maintain and ensures consistent standards regardless of who performs the tasks.
Key Features Supporting Standardized Sanitation Management
Squizify offers automated sanitation records from daily to monthly tasks, temperature monitoring with alerts for deviations, and standardized audit checklists. These features allow headquarters and area managers to remotely track progress across multiple locations, helping reduce variations in sanitation levels among stores and brands.
Solving Japan’s “Excessive Burden”
Founder Daniel McDougall notes that while Japan is trusted for its high food safety standards, maintaining those standards places a heavy workload on frontline staff. Challenges such as labor shortages, inconsistent sanitation practices between stores, and HACCP record deficiencies (about 35% of improvement guidance items) have become increasingly apparent.
By introducing the digital sanitation management practices common in Western markets, Squizify aims to lighten the operational burden and create an environment where anyone can maintain consistent quality in food safety tasks. McDougall says the goal is to replace time-consuming paper processes with an effortless digital workflow, allowing staff to focus more on true food safety.
