Kakaohealthcare from Korea Launches Japanese Subsidiary to Enter Local Market with Health App "PASTA"
2025/05/21
kakaohealthcare, the healthcare arm of South Korea’s Kakao Group, has established a Japanese subsidiary, KHC Japan, marking its full-scale entry into the Japanese market.
The company appointed Jino Lee, an expert with extensive experience in Japan’s B2C and IT sectors, as the head of the new entity. It is also hiring local staff to strengthen its sales and development teams.
The main product is "PASTA", an AI-powered mobile health app focused on blood sugar management. A Japan-specific version is currently being localized and is set to officially launch in September 2025. The app has also added a weight management feature called "Phenoet" to tap into the growing diet market.
In addition to individual users, kakaohealthcare plans to offer services to hospitals and local governments. Partnerships with Japanese companies are also underway.
The company sees Japan as its first step toward global expansion and aims to deliver services tailored to local needs.
Global Gateway Advisors, we are the preferred partner in assisting companies from all over Asia in their expansion into Japan market.
